What Is IGA?

IGA stands for Identity Governance and Administration and allows organizations to centrally manage who can access software, applications and business information and data.

Are IGA and IAM the same thing?

Although IGA (Identity Governance and Administration) and IAM (Identity and Access Management) complement each other to create an overall identity management solution, IGA surpasses IAM by enabling organizations to create and manage digital identities for their workforce and at the same time maintain regulatory compliance with stringent audit reporting and recertification campaigns.

What is IDaaS?

IDaaS is the acronym for identity-as-a-service and delivers Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions using a cloud-based delivery model. While IAM and IGA have been available for some time as an on-premise installation, new delivery technology has meant that identity software can now be delivered from the cloud.

What are the benefits of implementing IGA?

• Significant increase of security and thereby reduced likelihood of reputational damage
• Increase in efficiency in the onboarding of new workers (employees, contractors and freelancers)
• Cost avoidance by the reduction of overspend in software licenses
• Enabling the establishment of global work processes

Does IGA only benefit Enterprise organizations?

Controlling who in your organization has access to your company systems and data is best practise in any size organization. For too long IGA has been seen as the sole property of the enterprise organization, but for SME and mid-market businesses as they grow will benefit from streamlined onboarding and offboarding across all personnel.

Is IGA useful for organizations that don’t have compliance needs?

Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) adds an extra level to IT security strategies. With the continuing threat of user access being stolen by cybercriminals it’s never been more important for organizations to protect their employees digital identities. No matter whether compliance is a facet you need to report on, IGA provides additional safeguarding to company systems and data.

What is lifecycle management?

Lifecycle management is the administration of provisioning and deprovisioning of access to company systems and data throughout the time served by your workforce. From creating a zero-day start for new joiners by providing all access on a starters first day, through to management of access for your internal movers and the full removal of access upon departure, lifecycle management ensure only the right people have the right access to the right systems and data at the right time and more importantly that those who shouldn’t have access don’t.
